Chaya Schwartz

Poland, 1912 – Israel, 2001

Chaya Schwartz immigrated to Israel 1930. She studied art at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design and with Marcel Gromaire and Othon Friesz in Paris in the mid 1930s. Her deep saturated jewel tones and expressive brush stroke carry and emotive quality that has touched many. She won numerous prizes for her art and she has been exhibited at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and the Venice Biennale.
