Gabriel Cohen

October 15, 2010

Paris, France, 1933

The French Israeli artist Cohen often uses repetitive themes in his naive but clever style, mixing them together to create a fantastic world. Cohen moved to Israel in 1949 and has been working in Jerusalem ever since. A mural of his painting “Around the World in 92 Days” – a phantasmagoria of famous world sites – draws interest to the Gerard Bechar Center, right near the center of town; the original painting is part of the Israel Museum collection. He is a very popular Naive painter and he has been exhibited all over Israel and the world.
