Shmuel Ben David

Shmuel Ben David studied art at the Academy of Art in Sofia where he was a student of Boris Schatz. He immigrated to Israel in 1906 where he was in the first class of artists at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. Ben David organized and taught the department of carpet design at Bezalel. He also taught perspective, draughtsmanship and decorative art. His work is classical and decorative, characteristic of the first generation of Bezalel artists. He taught many of the next generation of Israeli artists and was highly
influential.
