Yaacov Wexler

Yaacov Wexler studied art in Hamburg, Germany before moving to Israel in 1933. Initially he lived on a Kibbutz and then moved to Haifa. Wexler joined the “New Horizons” movement which worked to develop a style that was both modern and specifically Israeli. He was the head of the Avni Institute for almost twenty years. He has worked in a myriad of styles but Wexler´s most recognized style is abstracted figuration dominated by deep blacks, bright reds and complex grays.
