The well-known painter, Avraham Naton, studied art at the Bucharest Art Academy before immigrating to Israel in 1935. In 1948 he became a founding member of the New Horizons group who worked to develop a style that was both modern and specifically Israeli. Naton´s earlier work is figurative but he slowly moved toward abstraction and geometric forms as his career progressed.
