July 26, 2010

Russia, 1981- Israel, 1951

Meir Gur-Aryeh studied at the Art School in Lodz before he moved to Israel in 1909 and became one of the first artists to study at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in 1911. He was well known for his uniquely styled silhouettes of arabesque Middle Eastern figures. Often his works are single toned allowing for no distractions to form.
